About the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club
The New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club (NZDWFC) was founded in 1988 in Christchurch. It has been administered from Auckland since 1991 but caters to fans of Doctor Who throughout the country.
The focus of the club is this website, where fans are invited to sign up to the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Forum and participate in discussions about any aspect of Doctor Who.
Informal social meetings take place in various parts of the country. Auckland members, for example, have a monthly pub meet in the city. Meetings also take place on an irregular basis in Wellington and Christchurch. These are announced in the Meetings, Events & Activities section of the Fan Forum.
The NZDWFC used to publish a fanzine called Time Space Visualiser (TSV), founded in 1987. TSV has twice been awarded the Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Fanzine, in 2005 and 2010. The Sir Julius Vogel awards are fan voted awards for various endeavours in the science fiction, fantasy or horror fields.
Copies of many issues of TSV are held by the National Library of New Zealand and the Alexander Turnbull Library in Wellington, New Zealand. TSV's International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is 1175-1924.
Material from past issues of TSV, from as far back as its first appearance in 1987, can be accessed in the TSV Archive. Recent issues are available to download as PDFs.
The club is closely affiliated with Retrospace, an Auckland-based online store selling a wide range of Doctor Who books, DVDs, toys and other collectables.
