Gary Russell's controversial views on DWM in his interview in TSV 51 prompted Gary Gillatt to ask for a right of reply. This turned into a full- length interview with the current DWM editor. Nicholas Withers departed as co-editor, leaving Paul Scoones as TSV's sole editor. The Hand of Fear and The Monster of Peladon were reviewed, and Paul Scoones and Jon Preddle compiled a detailed guide to the differences between the original and ‘special edition’ of The Five Doctors. Bob Beechey, a reader who had been watching Doctor Who from the beginning, wrote about his memories of Patrick Troughton. This issue was much delayed, unintentionally making 1997 the first of the three-issue years.
